Say Goodbye to Hollywood and hello Santa Monica

Well we slept in today until 10am after going to bed around midnight. Rohan will be glad to know that all of the boys had a shower and washed their hair this morning as well as cleaning their teeth and putting deodorant on!! A good effort. Then down to the highly excitable concierge to book our shuttle to Anaheim for 6pm and organise a trip to Santa Monica.

Now this is a beautiful place with a massive Pier that includes small carnival rides and a wide variety of food vendors and novelty shops
The Pier is also the end of Route 66 which runs from Chicago to Santa Monica 2448 Miles.

The beach isn't unlike some of our Australian beaches except that it is about 150 metres from the start of the sand to the water a massive expanse of sand back to the car park area.
We wore our havanas for the first time in 4 months and checked out the water that was as cold a it is in Newcastle.
They have life guards too
Lunch on the Pier at Bubba Gumps YUM!!
Great service and great food thanks Kelly.
Then some shopping at the Mall.Very classy area and the boys managed to spend 1hr in the 2 story Nike shop and then a further 30 min in the Vans shop.

Nordstrom advertising Cadillac's and a couple of kms of Mall. My girls would love it!!
Unfortunately only 4 hours here maybe another day. We made it back just in time for our connection to Anaheim, Lookout Disneyland!!

  3. Hey there,

I'm with Calli, a little but jealous but so impressed. Those place-names are so familiar, Santa Monica (Blvd), Anaheim, Route 66. Once had a dream to drive that, maybe we can go back together and you do the driving Ross, :). Love the chance to share this with you all, and love you all. gray.

Nice to have you on board.
Blogging forces me to think about what we did and make some sense of it!! A great forced diary.
    Fun too.
